This study compares the analysis and modeling of existing steel and concrete portal frame structures under various loading conditions using the European and Iranian codes. The main goal is to assess the accuracy of results from both codes and their applicability to Iran's seismic conditions. Several portal frame structures were modeled and analyzed under different loading scenarios. The results show that the Iranian Code, designed with consideration for Iran’s seismic characteristics and based on American standards, provides a more accurate analysis of structural behavior under seismic loads. This code uses more complex models to predict performance under earthquakes, yielding more conservative results. In contrast, the European Code, designed for low seismic risk areas, performed less effectively in analyzing structures in Iran. This discrepancy arises from the European Code's lack of alignment with Iran’s seismic conditions, reducing the accuracy of the analysis. The study also includes site analysis and seismic hazard assessment for different regions in Iran, emphasizing the importance of considering local seismic characteristics in structural design. The findings highlight the need for using locally tailored codes and can help improve the design and analysis of structures in seismic regions, especially in Iran. . .. . . . . .
