The increase of engineers' knowledge in the field of underground spaces, we have witnessed significant progress in the development of arteries and underground roads. Underground complexes are one of the best options to protect military installations and defense industries against enemy infiltration attacks. On the other hand, these strategic structures, if they do not follow the special principles that are often found in passive defense, can suffer extensive damage with the occurrence of events such as explosions. Usually, underground structures built with a military approach must be built at a safe depth from the soil surface. The depth of underground structures is determined according to the threats and the type of materials in the area. In addition to safe burial depth, the cross-sectional shape of underground structures is also a very effective factor in reducing the effects of incoming loads such as explosions. They are essential to surface structures. This requires the analysis of the stability of this type structures, under the influence of explosive loads, using structural dynamics. In this study, the dynamic response of numerical model of circular, horseshoe and rectangular tunnels under the influence of explosion load with costs of 250, 500 and 1000 kg of TNT by Ansys finite element software is investigated. The tunnels are located at a depth of 50 meters above the ground, and the explosion occurs assuming the projectile penetrates to a depth of 30 meters in the soil. The particle velocity of the tunnel crown, The maximum stress created during the loading time and the amount of energy absorption of the tunnels were investigated and compared. The results shows that the von-Mises stress in the rectangular tunnel is higher than other due to the concentration of stress. Also circular tunnel has the highest energy absorption and good performance against explosion load.
